Whole grains: The breakfast ingredient to kickstart your morning

It’s never been more important to start your day with a healthy bowl of wholegrain goodness to liven up your daily breakfast.  Physio Elements’ Dietitian, Morgan, knows that lockdowns are not easy for our nutrition goals, so let’s control what we can at the moment!

What are Whole grains?

Grains are the edible seeds of plants. A grain is a “whole grain” if it contains the three key parts of a seed: the bran, germ, and endosperm.

Whole grain breakfast ideas:

Add some fresh fruit to your cooked oats, weetbix, add your preference of non-diary or dairy to your bowl.

Wholemeal toast, loads of options out there, simply add your avocado and eggs, how you like to cook them up! I’m a fan of poached!

Breakfast smoothies can be whipped up in no time, use up that fruit that is just about to go off, I’m keen on adding oats, splash of water, chai seeds, frozen mixed berries, splash of honey to balance out a yummy morning pick me up! You can add something green into this as well, perhaps frozen kale or spinach, fresh if you have it!
